Game Overview
In Far Cry 6, you’re dropped into the fictional Caribbean island country of Yara, a tropical paradise stuck in a 20th-century time warp ruled with an iron fist by dictator Antón Castillo and his merciless son, Diego. Players assume the role of Dani Rojas, a native of Yara who is recruited into the guerrilla resistance group Libertad and fights to overthrow the regime across the franchise’s largest and most diverse open-world map to date. The game focuses on liberation and guerrilla warfare. Players travel through a seamless mix of urban areas, thick jungles, mountaintops, and offshore islands.
Players use a range of vehicles to navigate the vast terrain, from horses and regular cars to tanks, helicopters, and jet skis. The area is split into separate territories, all under the control of Castillo's military forces, and players build their resistance network by completing main-story missions, side operations, and random encounters that gradually weaken the regime's hold. The game features a system known as Resolve—a dynamic tension meter in which heavy enemy fire decreases your combat effectiveness. Still, kills, headshots, and revives increase it, promoting an aggressive, high-risk style of play instead of simply staying put.

The combat in Far Cry 6 stresses improvisation and guerrilla creativity by means of the innovative Resolver Weapon system—this involves the creation of improvised, hand-made firearms and gadgets made from scrap and ordinary objects, such as a rifle that launches CDs as a kind of 'musical' weapon, a silent nailgun, and a flamethrower that fires out toxic gas. Together with conventional military-grade weapons, these weapons can be fully customized at the workbenches using modular attachments (such as scopes, suppressors, magazines and special 'Resolver' parts) which change both their performance and look.
The Amigo System takes the place of the traditional method of hiring companions, letting players recruit a changing selection of animal allies—these include Chorizo the sausage dog (who distracts the enemies), Guapo the crocodile (a tough close-combat fighter) and Chicharrón the rooster (an aggressive and suicidal attacker)—each of whom has special abilities and unlockable bonuses. Vehicle combat has been greatly extended, with drivers now being able to operate mounted turrets, request airdrops to deliver vehicles, and even ride horses to move silently across the mountains.

The sandbox is still wonderfully chaotic: destroying anti-aircraft batteries opens the skies for your faction's aircraft, knocking down propaganda billboards lowers enemy morale, and setting off chain-reaction explosions using fuel tanks and industrial equipment can clear an entire outpost in a matter of seconds.
